PLACE
In the Medina and in Downtown
A decentral project, mainly in public space
THEME
his is what a parliament should be: a public space protected from debate and conflict when necessary. But above all, it is a space for listening, exchanging and building a vision, a city, and a democratic and shared future. Without artists and culture, this true parliament, this true democracy, will not survive.
..
What will be the new chapter that Tunisia will start after the elections of autumn 2019? What will be the future role and place of artists, cultural structures, civil society and particularly young people in Tunis and throughout the country? Without us, nothing relevant and solid will be built. Dream City 2019 will be a time of imagination, commitment and challenge, without which a future is not possible.
…
The 2019 edition is intended to be both a platform for creation, a shared human space, and a hub between several territories and worlds.
…
From the territory of the Medina of Tunis, in time and with the local reality, the artists have created collaborative rhizomes with the whole country.
…
How to recognize growing inequalities, save the planet, live with differences, or simply, how to make city and society together? These questions were at the heart of this edition and of all the projects of the artists, intellectuals, citizens and young people of Tunis who make Dream City 2019. This is what a parliament should be: a public space protected from debate and conflict when necessary. But above all, it is a space for listening, exchanging and building a vision, a city, and a democratic and shared future. Without artists and culture, this true parliament, this true democracy, will not survive.
…
We express ourselves and fight for a Tunisia that will not be built without these values.
DREAM CITY: Edito
CURATORIAL PARAMETERS
Site-specific // All Dream City creations have two things in common: you will see them here for the first time, and you will probably never see them elsewhere. Dream City is a festival of contextual and unique creations, more than ever, and not like the others.
DREAM CITY: Edito
Context-conditioned // DREAM CITY is a project that emanates from the traditional form of a festival. The participating artists arrive without any artistic project and it is the interactions with the city, the street and its inhabitants, which will give rise to a desire to treat through Art a social, economic, political or urban aspect.
DREAM CITY: A propos
Diversity // Young people and adults, women and men, believers and non-believers, people of all sexual orientations: they are there, they are carrying this festival with the artists and with L’Art Rue.
