Meaning-Oriented Strategic Planning
for Artists, Creative Practitioners

Existential coach, trainer and counsellor Mahir Namur joins TASAWAR with a personal and professional development training program specially designed for artists and creative practitioners. This workshop aims to give participants a space to reflect on themselves and on their career plans and to provide them with the necessary tools to improve their competence for dealing with the challenges of their lives.

Day 1 will contain a special session on meaning oriented strategic planning, exploring how to take our stance on physical, social, political and psychological circumstances and how to develop the concept of an exhibition that is meaningful for the society at that moment?

The program not only deals with the curator’s activities in the physical world but also with their relations to the psychological and mental worlds. It intends to provide an overview of:

– basic tools for strategic planning in order to review and restructure your careers and lives, with the aim to enable long-term perspectives.

– basic knowledge of project development.

– self-coaching strategies for improving goal-setting and decision-making skills.

– basic knowledge to understand and deal with stress, anxiety, lack of motivation, procrastination, existential emptiness, etc.

– basic knowledge of some existential concepts such as meaning-making, freedom, responsibility, authenticity, values and ethics.

Day 2 will look at various case studies from Turkey to examine different curatorial approaches. During this day we will also be joined by T. Melih Görgün, founder and artistic director and curator of Sinopale Biennale.

The SINOPALE is a biennial that is founded and directed by Melih Görgün. It consists of a multitude of events of different formats. Without hierarchical structures, workshops, field trips and ephemeral performative events spread out into the entire town of Sinop and into the region. Additional open-air film screenings, educational programs of the Sinop Summer Academy and Sinopale Kids are inviting local residents and guests to further interaction and exchange.

The European Cultural Association is the producer of the SINOPLALE. In co-operation with international curators, it takes a contextual and collective approach to the biennial, their events, thematic and discursive direction. It fosters investigations into various forms of engagement through local movements, initiatives from civic society and nongovernmental politics.
